Maybe that is because they've intentionally shown off the upcoming devices a month ago before the Samsung event, and with a commercial before the Apple Event. In many ways, there isn't much we do not know about the phone outside of the front of the device and the software.

Thankfully, I obtained a leaked video of a Production Validation Test (PVT) unit of the Google Pixel 6 Pro, which explains the unique logo on the back replacing the "G" Google logo. A PVT unit is intended to test the manufacturing process and quality for the phone before going into full-scale production. That means the design we see here may change in it's appearance, so it's important to keep that in mind and not get too attached to this design and make final judgments about it after the phone has been released and reviewed.

As for what we see, the video not only shows off the front of the device, it's curved edge screen design, and that it is a fully functional unit. We also obtained some exclusive photos that you can see in the video above, one of which confirms the information about Google's custom Tensor chip made in partnership with Samsung. Other's show it in comparison with the Google Pixel 4 XL.

I'm working on obtaining more exclusive leaks and hope to provide them to you soon. I'm currently inquiring about the screen being on with a white background to see the curves of the edges, a video showing the in-display fingerprint reader, videos and photos from the Google Pixel 6 Pro, and any unique software features that may be present and active ahead of launch.

Stay tuned and make sure to follow me on Twitter @thisistechtoday

Can The Samsung SmartTag+ Beat the Apple AirTag?

A battle of Ultra Wide Band Trackers.

Eddie

A battle of Ultra Wide Band Trackers.

Why the New Apple M1 iMac Wasn't Made For You

Not everything is made for the prosumer.

Eddie

Not everything is made for the prosumer.

My Modern Desk Setup Tour for Live Streaming, Video Calls, Editing, and Online Classes.

Many of us are working from home, taking online classes, on Zoom calls, or even live streaming. I decided to get rid of my clunky, dark desk and put together this amazing, clean, fully functional, sit stand desk setup to allow me to edit my videos, create content, live stream, and work from. This wasn't cleaned up or modified just for the YouTube video. No, this is actually the setup that I personally use every day!

Hopefully, this video is a bit of insight into what I actually use, can spark some inspiration, and even help you out as well.

Thanks to Fully, Elgato, and BenQ for providing the insanely beautiful and high quality furniture, the live streaming essentials, and the monitor!

ALL OF THE STUFF MENTIONED IN THE VIDEO

Sponsor

💨 Smartmi 2S Smart Fan (Sponsored)

The Smartmi 2S Smart Fan is a fan I personally use every day. Not only was it super easy to put together, it is beautiful and filled with tech. You can control it from the app to adjust the speed of it, set up timers, adjust the angle of it, and even activate a "natural" breeze setting that makes it feel like you're relaxing outside as the breeze ebbs and flows. My favorite part is that it has a built-in battery allowing you to pick it up and move it wherever you want without plugging it in and it'll run for up to 20 hours. This has saved me a tons of money because I have been able to run my air conditioning for a shorter period of time. With it comes a lot of quality of life improvements that many have longed for and that I'm quite excited for. Of course, you can go to the Official Android Developers Blog post to read everything in depth, but here are some personal highlights of mine.

Increased security: Without permission, apps cannot use the mic or camera in the background, access sensitive resources and data, a lockdown mode (which sounds super interesting), a more robust location sharing process, etc.

Less App Interruptions: "We've also seen that users (and developers!) get upset when an app unexpectedly jumps into the foreground and takes over focus. To reduce these interruptions, Android Q will prevent apps from launching an Activity while in the background. If your app is in the background and needs to get the user's attention quickly -- such as for incoming calls or alarms -- you can use a high-priority notification and provide a full-screen intent."

More Support for Foldables: We saw this coming. Don't act surprised.

Source: Android Developers

Faster Sharing Options: This was frustratingly slow and it appears that Google has directly sought to address this.

Settings Panels: This sounds like an incredible way to make things easier and more intuitive for people to use their phone and the apps on it. "A settings panel is a floating UI that you invoke from your app to show system settings that users might need, such as internet connectivity, NFC, and audio volume. For example, a browser could display a panel with connectivity settings like Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi (including nearby networks), and Mobile Data. In many ways Apple popularized certain technologies that were often released first by one or two Android manufacturers. Even though Apple wasn't first, they're often the ones to execute well and in turn many other Android manufacturers would follow suit.

The issue is that Android manufacturers have just been copying and not innovating and Apple hasn't done much to come up with anything groundbreaking on their end either. They've become boring. More stable and refined, yes, but also boring. This stagnation is leading to people skipping their upgrades for another year or two or finding cheaper alternatives.

This lack of innovation on all fronts combined with the dire smartphone sales projections has led to a sort of second awakening of smartphone innovation that is absolutely nuts and totally fun. We have foldable devices everywhere, massive batteries, smartphones you can wear on your wrist, and phones you can unlock with the veins in your hands. It is an insane wild, wild west of smartphone ideas and it's all thanks to Apple being boring.

Thanks, Apple.

🔊Help Me Start a PODCAST by supporting me on Patreon!

Watch more!

🤳The Decline of the Smartphone
📁All About the Galaxy Fold
📽WATCH Last Week's Video on the Galaxy S10

The Samsung Galaxy Fold, Huawei Mate X, a massive battery, foldable phones, controlling your smartphone w/your hand...Smartphones are ridiculous now and it's Apple's fault..and I like it.
🔊Help Me Start a PODCAST: https://myte.ch/patreon

-- LINKS --
🤳The Decline of the Smartphone: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCwuVhejHgtj8Vxf9sMkg2Clc0D9--YBk
📁All About the Galaxy Fold: https://youtu.be/_y3OhHeyzbg
📽WATCH Last Week's Video on the Galaxy S10: https://youtu.be/hxrxZUggc7A

THIS IS TECH THIS WEEK: SEASON 2 - EPISODE 04: Samsung's Unpacked Event Leaked

Looking for a roundup on all the leaks and news for the Samsung Unpacked Event on February 20th? The Google Pixel Phones Are the Fastest Growing Smartphone Brand in the US">
A report from Strategy Analytics was released this month stating that Google's Pixel phone line is the fastest growing smartphone brand in the United States.

Despite the immense drama surrounding the Google Pixel line, whether it be numerous leaks after a shipment of pre-release hardware was stolen and sold on the black market, to a fairly passionate hatred over the notch from the hardcore tech community, or the numerous issues that seem to plague each generation of Pixel phones for the first few months, it looks like that didn't hold back the average consumer from picking up a shiney new Pixel Phone.

While the market is largely dominated by long-time players, Apple and Samsung, it seems that Google's strategy is starting to pay off. By focusing on AI based features like their call screening feature, the various Google Assistant features, and the highly-praised camera — including the front-facing selfie cam — Google has managed to attract a generally high affluent demographic. The report states:

Google Pixel is now the fastest-growing major smartphone brand in the United States. Like Apple, Google is targeting rich Americans with rich eSIM devices and rich apps. Is Pixel the new iPhone?

This aligns with a report that came out at the end of last year that stated that of Google's $2.98 Billion in gross profit for hardware in 2018, the Pixel accounted for $1.78 Billion of that and is projected to grow exponentially over the next few years.

In a previous video I stated that "Google didn't make the Google Pixel for You" meaning that they didn't make it for the die-hard tech enthusiasts but the average consumer. Their features, marketing, and actions have pointed that they're trying to be what I like to call "the iPhone of Androids." Compared to the other Android options out there, I think they're doing a good job.

Now if only they could just release it without it being a dumpster fire for the first few months.

Purchase the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL through my link and help support our web hosting!

THIS IS TECH THIS WEEK: SEASON 2 - EPISODE 02

Did Samsung accidentally leak their unreleased Foldable phone-tablet, the Galaxy X? There's actually a ton of leaks this past week including the upcoming Galaxy S10, the Apple iPhone 11 and beyond. I'd love to know what you think about all of these leaks. The Galaxy S10e will only have two lenses on the back with a flat 5.8" screen and thicker bezels, like the iPhone XR compared to the iPhone XS. There's also a fingerprint scanner on the side with one of the buttons and an estimated price of about $749 in the US.

The Galaxy S10 hasn't had the press images leaked from what I have seen, but it does have a 6.1 inch screen with the curved edges, super minimal bezels, a triple camera setup on the back and is estimated to be around $899 in the US.And then the big boy. The Galaxy S10 Plus will have a 6.4" screen, the same size as the Note 9, which is nuts, and the same great features of the normal Galaxy S10 with the addition of two cameras on the front. The galaxy S10+ will not have four cameras on the back as some of the rumors suggested, but three. The price is estimated to be $999 for the base level Galaxy 10 Plus, which I still find expensive, but I appreciate that they didn't go over $1,000 like the iPhone. I imagine that line will be crossed with the Note 10 though.

Source: WinFuture

Here's a helpful chart to show you the difference in specs including battery life and storage options. All three will have headphone jacks, at least 6GB of RAM, and the Galaxy S10 Plus will allow you to choose an option for storage up to 1 terabyte. I store and edit these videos on a 1 Terabyte drive. What in the world would you need that much space for? Let me know in the comments.

The three colors that we know about so far are prism black, prism green, and pearl white. Other colors are planned for a later time. I'm not feeling the green one too much and the white one feels a bit like an oil spill to me so I think may go with the prism black one. Now, let me say something about the prices here. The Galaxy S10e is priced at about the same spot as the iPhone XR, which makes it seem like a response from Samsung to have a device in the same price tier. Hopefully, the screen is better, but I still don't think $749 is what should be considered "budget." That's still a lot of money, especially in light of phones like the OnePlus 6T.

If they priced this at $699, I think it could have something there to make people think twice when looking for a phone in that range. At the end of the day, if these phones are too expensive, we usually see deals for Samsung phones a month or two later here in the US, so patience can be a benefit to you.Let me know what you think of these leaks and which one you are most interested in and what you think of their prices, and why these icons are not centered with the cutout. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has some information on Apple's upcoming iPhone 11 and the iPhone that will come out in 2020, yes another generation later. The dude continually has huge leaks that have been pretty spot on. Here's what he had to say.

FaceID will improve for all 2019 iPhone models and may have USB-C, which would be pretty great. The largest iPhone, which I think means the "max" model will have a triple camera setup. The third lens will be a wide angle lens instead of a telephoto lens, which means you'll be able to see far more of your surroundings from where you stand compared to the normal camera lens. This is super practical and I think will be nice! iOS 13 will bring Dark Mode and supposedly a new home screen for the iPad, which may make better use of that space and make it act more like a laptop replacement like Apple keeps pushing. Also, there will be longer live photos. Do any of you use live photos?

The most interesting part Gurman's article has to do with what we'll see in 2020. The iPhone will have laser-based 3D camera systems that will allow it to have really powerful Augmented Reality capabilities. You've seen augmented reality with games like Pokemon Go, and Apple has been showing it off a lot in their keynotes, but what if you could have a powerful system in your phone that allows you to scan and recreate your environments up to fifteen feet away? That would be nuts. Ikea is going to be all up in that. Huh, I wonder what they'd name an app that does Augmented Reality. Leave some funny name ideas in the comments.

Of course, that will also allow it to take better pictures with more depth data and may be a hint at the rumored augmented reality glasses or headset that has been worked on for quite a few years. That may be Apple's new game changer. Are you interested in Augmented Reality? While I'm not entirely sure what will be mind-blowing enough to get people to upgrade their iPhones this year, I hope they increase the battery size or at least include a fast charger.

SPONSOR:
Speaking of fast chargers, if you didn't know, there's a charger revolution happening right now with Gallium Nitride chargers and I have one here from this video's Sponsor, RavPower. Well, a commercial was accidently posted by Samsung Vietnam and taken down shortly after. The internet being what it is, made multiple copies of the video and reposted it.

Towards the end of the video we see a woman holding a foldable device in mid-fold and I have to admit, if that is what the actual device looks like, I'm really amazed because it looks super slim, sleek, and can fold INWARDS.We've seen foldable designs from Royale and Xiaomi, but they've been really clunky looking designs with thick bezels and the screen only bends with the screen facing the outside, not the inside. Even Huawei is trying to get in on the foldable phone action in a teaser that they released ahead of Mobile World Congress on February 24th. That one also seems to have a screen folding on the outside. The only phone that has potentially teased an inward facing fold is the upcoming Motorola Razr....in concepts.

As Marques Brownlee pointed out, the current foldable phones we've seen so far are these clunky devices that have bad software along with it. So, does Samsung have a foldable phone that actually has a nice thin profile, folds flat and flush with itself like a folio case, and has an inward folding screen? Or is this just a concept render that made it into a commercial and isn't actually real? Some people don't think it represents anything real. Basing what we saw at the initial announcement of the Galaxy S foldable phone, even in its case it doesn't look exactly like what we're seeing in this video, specifically with the outside screen, so that does leave room for doubt.

What we do see is the inward facing fold which looks pretty amazing compared to the other options. For me, I hope it's real, but I have a good feeling we'll find out for sure later on this month. Let me know what you think of the design in the leaked video and if you think it's real or not.

OUTRO: That's it! Make sure to check out my last video where I talked about all the crazy cool designs coming out from team android and asked the question, can the Galaxy S10 phones dethrone the Apple iPhone XR and XS? Click the card in the top right to watch it and check out my website at www.thisistechtoday.com

Make sure you share, subscribe, hit that bell icon if you haven't already.
